This three-volume collection of studies carried out by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) contains relevant and dominant streams of researches conducted in sociology and social anthropology during the last decade. It looks at the history of Indian sociology presenting its theories and knowledge. It uses first-hand research by senior scholars which are unpublished elsewhere. Further contents are the Dalit studies, gender, sociology of tribes and communication research in India.
