You're not you is the story of an unlikely awakening. Bec is a sophomore in college, ambivalent and antsy and sleeping with a married professor, when she answers an ad for a summer job caring for a woman with Lou Gehrig's disease. Her patient is not what she expected: though unable to walk or speak clearly, Kate is young, happily married, successful, and sophisticated. Bec gradually becomes a student of Kate's sensual approach to life, the point of contact between her patient and the realm of physical experience. And when Kate's marriage deteriorates, Bec is forced to choose between the comfort of her old life and the allure of a bigger place in the world.
