Summary:
UN peacekeeping forms an important tenet of Pakistan's foreign policy. Pakistan began participating in peacekeeping operations in 1960 and since then has earned the distinction of being one of the most consistent and professional peacekeepers. Along the way, it has acquired the reputation of being one of the largest troop contributing countries among the UN member states. However, very little has been written about the subject by Pakistani scholars. This book of collected works represents the ideas and thoughts of veteran peacekeepers and academics. It covers a wide array of topics ranging from foreign policy motivations to modern trends in peacekeeping and how Pakistan is adapting to these emerging challenges. The book also brings out the lessons learnt from various peacekeeping operations.
