It has been said that "it takes a village to raise a child," and that is exactly how I was raised -- influenced by the people and places in my small Minnesota village. I was born into a loving, close-knit family and was sheltered in the same house from the time I was a newborn until I set off for college. The memories of the places that I frequented and the people I knew those man years ago have never left me, and I visit them frequently. Although mine is a singular experience in a singular setting, it is a shared experience with all fortunate enough to have grown up in that simpler era.
