The book itself reflects the growing of a garden, with four sections representing the four seasons of the year. Each season thematically groups four types of written works, known as Crops, which are cultivated throughout the book: Memoiries (poetic memories about words or vegetables); Languegetables (one-word poems rooting vegetables in language, and vice versa); Vegetables (giant-font iterations of veggies that draw attention to the physicality of words); and WeedWords (illustrative veggo-verbal growths). Through the progression of these pieces, the book draws strong parallels between words and vegetables as the same thing--entities grown, tended to, and consumed by humans."--Artist's website (viewed August 11, 2017) $u http://www.woodyleslie.com/work/wordsandveg.html 500 $a Library copy is 4/10 and signed by the artist. $5 IaU 600 10 $a Leslie, Woody $x Awards. 650 0 $a Autobiographical memory in art. $0 http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2003003610 650 0 $a Words in art. $0 http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85148125 650 0 $a Language and languages in art. $0 http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2006007605 650 0 $a Vegetables $v Anecdotes. 650 0 $a Artists' books. $0 http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85008302 650 0 $a Artists' books $x Awards. 610 20 $a Caxton Club Award. 655 7 $a Anecdotes. $2 lcgft $0 http://id.loc.gov/authorities/genreForms/gf2014026044 655 7 $a Humor. $2 lcgft $0 http://id.loc.gov/authorities/genreForms/gf2014026110 655 7 $a Artists' books $z Chicago $z Chicago $y 2017. $2 rbgenr 655 7 $a Typefaces (Type evidence) $x Baskerville. $2 rbtyp 655 7 $a Typefaces (Type evidence) $x Gill Sans Light. $2 rbtyp 655 7 $a Typefaces (Type evidence) $x Stymie. $2 rbtyp 710 2 $a Columbia College (Chicago, Ill.). $b Center for Book & Paper Arts, $e funder. $0 http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/no2002020320 710 2 $a Caxton Club, $e funder. $0 http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n85213650 710 2 $a Large Home Tiny Idea (Firm), $e publisher. 941 $a 1 952 $l OVUX522 $d 20181116062503.0 956 $a http://locator.silo.lib.ia.us/search.cgi?index_0=id&term_0=A6DB29E2840811E89478B85797128E48Initiate Another SILO Locator Search
