The Cambridge Edition of the Correspondence of Samuel Richardson is the first complete edition of his letters. These three volumes contain his correspondence, much of it published for the first time, with two fascinating women: Dorothy, Lady Bradshaigh (1705-85) and her sister Elizabeth, Lady Echlin (1704-82). Lady Bradshaigh was Richardson's most prolific and important correspondent, challenging him about a range of issues, literary and otherwise, including his intentions for Clarissa and Sir Charles Grandison, in an iconoclastic style. Lady Echlin lived in Ireland for much of her life and provided Richardson with much information on Irish issues, including the Dublin editions of his novels. The scholarly apparatus in this volume provides ample information about these women's lives and their milieu, affording many insights into eighteenth-century English and Irish social and literary history. 600 10 $a Richardson, Samuel, $d 1689-1761 $v Correspondence. 600 10 $a Bradshaigh, Dorothy, $c Lady, $d approximately 1708-1785 $v Correspondence. 600 10 $a Echlin, Elizabeth, $c Lady, $d 1704?-1782? $v Correspondence. 600 17 $a Richardson, Samuel, $d 1689-1761. $2 gnd $0 (DE-588)118600346 650 0 $a Novelists, English $y 18th century $v Correspondence. $0 http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2010103898 600 17 $a Bradshaigh, Dorothy, $c Lady, $d approximately 1708-1785. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01809337 600 17 $a Echlin, Elizabeth, $c Lady, $d 1704?-1782? $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01953316 600 17 $a Richardson, Samuel, $d 1689-1761. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00052410 650 7 $a Novelists, English. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01039718 648 7 $a 1700-1799 $2 fast 655 7 $a Personal correspondence. $2 lcgft $0 http://id.loc.gov/authorities/genreForms/gf2014026141 655 7 $a Personal correspondence. $2 fast $0 http://id.worldcat.org/fast/1919948 $0 http://id.worldcat.org/fast/1919948 655 7 $a Records and correspondence. $2 fast $0 http://id.worldcat.org/fast/1423917 $0 http://id.worldcat.org/fast/1423917 700 1 $a Sabor, Peter, $e editor. $0 http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n84018499 700 1 $a Bradshaigh, Dorothy, $c Lady, $d approximately 1708-1785, $e author. $0 http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/no99009270 700 1 $a Echlin, Elizabeth, $c Lady, $d 1704?-1782?, $e author. $0 http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n86873243 800 1 $a Richardson, Samuel, $d 1689-1761. $t Correspondence. $s Cambridge University Press ; $v 5-7. $0 http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/no2014164755 941 $a 1 952 $l OVUX522 $d 20231020023905.0 956 $a http://locator.silo.lib.ia.us/search.cgi?index_0=id&term_0=5664F188FAD211E7A45C351A97128E48Initiate Another SILO Locator Search
