Summary:
A mixed race, first-generation American with a Tanzanian father and Korean mother visits the Chagga tribe in Mount Kilimanjaro to explore her paternal roots. She presents a picture of a family that has changed because of national and familial politics, and discusses a variety of subject matter within the Chagga tribe, such as education, history, politics, tradition, social hierarchies, marriage and rape. She eventually finds a connection with the women in her family because of their similar experiences of sexual abuse'
