The Legacy Series is about the Quakers of Strand Parish, Norway, who came to America and to Iowa to escape religious persecution by the Church of Norway. In the 1860s they plowed the prairie in Marshall County and began the Stavanger Friends Meeting. In 1883 they built new farms on the prairie of O'Brien County, establishing the Paullina Friends Meeting in 1885. The Strand Parish Quakers included Oleson/Wests, Tjossems, Strands, Thompsons, Meltvedts, Towes, Goodmansons, Norlands and Bryngelsons. They were joined by Rockwells from NewYork State and Hendersons from Canada.
