Summary:
It is settled between us already, that we are to be the happiest couple in the world. When Elizabeth Benet married Fitzwilliam Darcy in autumn of 1812, she believed that all unhappiness and strife between them had been laid to rest. Their misunderstandings resolved, she wished for nothing more than to enjoy their happily ever after. Alas married life brings with it a new set of challenges. Having been wed five years, Elizabeth is yet unable to give her husband a child. Everyone around them--sisters, friends, and cousins alike--has begun to have a family; yet, she and Darcy continue in a fruitless pursuit to create an heir for Pemberley. Darcy is disappointed that he and Elizabeth have not yet been blessed with a child but even more so, he despairs of what their difficulties have done to alter the woman he loves. The two have grown increasingly distant from one another, their resentments slowly and surely building a wall between them. Something must be done to save their marriage and allow them to rekindle the ardent love between them. Each of them thinks they may have a solution, unconventional though it might be; for each, a sacrifice must be made and a risky deception undertaken. But will the result of it all justify the means they took to get there? Or will they have risked it all for nothing? -- Back cover
