Summary:
Iowa State College landscape architecture professor Philip H. Elwood took students on a tour in the summer of 1930. This videodisc covers highlights of the Gibraltar, Egypt, France and England portions of that trip. Highlights include views of the rock of Gibraltar and coast of Algeria as the party sailed on MV Vulcania; street scenes in Algeria and ancient city of Syracuse on the island of Sicily. The Egypt trip included port of Alexander and great pyramids of Cheops. In Venice the group visited the Doges Palace, campanile on S.t Mark's Square, Palazzo Lezze on the Grand Canal and boated through the city. In France the group saw the gardens of Fontainebleau and the Vaux-le-Vicomte, Gardens of Luxembourg. In England they visited Hampton Court along the Thames where they saw the perennial boarders, the King's Privy Garden and Queen Anne's Garden. Includes a bus tour of London with view of the Tower Bridge, Kew Gardens and a visit to Kent to see Groombridge Place gardens.
