Summary:
"This historic sketch of Rev. Ries was put together from historic records and histories of the time and place. It tells the story of a German Lutheran minister to Colonial America who shortly after accepting his first pastoral role in America finds himself in a historic church controversy over a language issue. He later marries and begins a family in the remote Mohawk Valley as the French and Indian War begins. Twenty years later he is ministering in the Hudson Valley area, where families, neighbors, and congregations are torn apart as the Revolutionary War begins. Despite many challenges, Reverend Ries managed to prosper, raise a large family, and still remain faithful to his calling, serving as a Lutheran Minister in New York State area for over forty years."--page [4] of cover.
