Goni or Gunny (made from aloes plants) is a natural fabric made of natural fibers. It is woven in such a way thay the fabric is highly breathable and keeps the ingredients fresh. It was used to pack all kind of fresh commodities like sugar, potatoes, rice... There used to be a thriving goni industry in Mauritius until the 1960s.
