Summary:
Shows the evolution of American English from the revolutionary war through the roaring twenties. Explains that as the American frontier expanded westward, frontiersmen and women, riverboaters, gold miners, and others enlarged and enriched the traditional vocabulary, as did the great emigrations of the nineteenth century.
