This work, in twenty-one movements, is a pasticcio incorporating recitatives and chorales by Georg Philipp Telemann (and two chorales of unknown origin). It was first performed in Hamburg during Lent, 1787. This edition is based on the original performing material. Figured bass unrealized. Issued in cooperation with the Bach-Archiv Leipzig, the Sächsische Akademie der Wissenschaften zu Leipzig, and Harvard University. Preface, introduction, and critical commentary in English.
