The Vienna-based artist Sonia Leimer (b. 1977 in Merano, Italy) has risen to international renown in recent years with her large-scale installations. In her exhibition "Space Junk" at Museion Bolzano, she continues to pursue her longstanding interest in architecture, the working world, and globalization. SONIA LEIMER SPACE JUNK, an artist's book accompanying the exhibition, offers readers insights into Leimer's own daily artistic production. Forming the springboard for her practice is her ongoing research into objects and materials that are of cultural, social, historical, and also personal significance. Her book highlights special moments in the artist's work process, revealing her schematic approach. Photos are mixed in a dense sequence with notes, found footage, video stills, and views documenting the exhibition. In this non-linear web of associations, situations become tangible in which art is able to set things in motion and be a force for transformation. As epilogue, the book concludes with detailed essays by Letizia Ragaglia and Silvia Eiblmayr. Exhibition: Museion Bolzano, Italy (10.10.2020 - 31.01.2021).
