In the final book of the Rootless trilogy, Banyon is being hunted by GenTech Corporation in order to recover the last living trees he had stolen but no longer has. He must trust in strangers as he tries to find his friend Crow and gather feuding tribes together in preparation for war. He is reunited with Alpha, the girl who always gave him hope, but finds that she has changed in ways he'd never imagined. As they embark on a final journey to Vega with the goal of taking down GenTech forever, he must choose between fighting for a conflicted world or saving the lives of those he loves.
