"Perhaps the only conclusion to draw is that productions of Shakespeare have cut and adapted Shakespeare since Shakespeare. And thematically, HAMLET's instability as a text is echoed oddly by the play itself. HAMLET comes in many shapes and sizes; endlessly malleable, permanently relevant, enduringly fascinating. The production we made at the Almeida was the result of three years' worth of meetings between Andrew Scott and I.
