Summary:
The true, inspiring story of the efforts of Ruth Gruber to save one thousand Jewish refugees from war by bringing them across the Atlantic to New York and grant them a safe haven from the Holocaust. When the refugees arrive in New York they are forced to live in an internment camp where they live in fear of deportation and despair of ever having a home. Ultimately, Ruth must fight for the refugees rights to belong and to have a permanent home in the United States.
