Summary:
A two-part discussion of the negative symptoms of schizophrenia including interviews with patients and treatment teams. Specific symptoms that affect psycho-social function are: alogia (poverty of speech); affective blunting/flattening (inability to express emotions); avolition (inability to initiate and carry through behavior), anhedonia (loss of capacity to experience pleasure), attentional impairment (difficulty in focusing attention).
