Summary:
--Page 4 of cover.
In a cemetery in Port-au-Prince, the narrator, Carl Vausier, meets Valencia, a very young prostitute carrying her baby in her arms, selling herself to the men in the midst of the graves. Carl has just broken with his ex-wife Rosia. In the cemetery, he feels a strange attraction for Valencia, who is neither amorous nor sexual, and wants to get her out of her sordid situation, a path that will prove to be perilous for him. A few months ago. Carl is robbed of the medallion he wears around his neck, a medallion that his own father has worn during his life. Thanks to a perfect mastery of the novel, Gary Victor will weave the different frames of the novel to create an unexpected finale. The strong tensions of Haitian society will not spare any character and Carl will in turn be seen as instrument and victim of this cruelty which will exert a very strange fascination on the reader--Translation of page 4 of cover by fnac: http://livre.fnac.com/a10176120/Gary-Victor-Les-temps-de-la-cruaute
