Compact disc. Compilation of Korean traditional and contemporary folk music performed by various performers and the National Gugak Center's Court Music Orchestra, Folk Music Group, and Contemporary Gugak Orchestra, conducted by Lee Young & Hwang Guang-yeop. Title from disc label. Guide contains full list of contributing musicians, and recording and production details. "This album was made with the intention of sharing it with people throughout the world so that they may relax and enjoy the beauty of Korean traditional music in their busy daily lives. These carefully selected pieces, perfected over time, are rich in contemporary and future value. It is regrettable, however, that the durational limit of this recording does not allow all of such music to be included. My hope is that these recorded works will be something that people will want to keep near at hand as they go about their daily business. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the National Gugak Center's Court Music Orchestra, Folk Music Group, and Contemporary Gugak Orchestra, all of whom performed for this album, as well as Ahn Sook-sun, Music Director, Choi Byoung-sam, You Ji-suk, Lee Young and Hwang Guang-yeop, Concert-master, and particularly Ryu Hyung-sun, Music Director for the Contemporary Gugak Orchestra, who took charge of the planning, producing, and sound-check for this album"--Foreword of booklet. "The tracks were selected in such a way as to help the listener understand the basic makeup of Korean traditional music, while appealing to the various tastes of a wider audience. Two contemporary pieces composed with the aim of building a new tradition have also been included"--Page 4 of booklet. Various performers.
