A tragic incident when they were twelve leaves Ash with no memory of the event and her best friend Solomon with trauma-induced delusions in which he retreats into a dark, imaginary land that he cannot separate from reality. Ash struggles with depression in the real world along with the knowledge that her friend has succumbed to mental illness, and Solomon lives deep in the Darkside, a terrifying land of his own imagination where monsters, dinosaurs, and humans live side by side. Ash begins to realize that if they are to stop the turmoil within both reality and the Darkside, they must understand what happened to them all those years ago.
