Presented by the National Film Board of Canada. A National Film Board of Canada/Pacific Centre production.
Summary:
Canada, America's closest trading partner, is in danger of becoming a nation divided against itself. Examines the political, regional, and cultural conflicts within Canada's borders. Focuses on Quebec's quest for independence from greater Canada since the collapse of the 1987 Lake Meech Accords. Throughout Canada there is evidence of other potential conflicts: Saskatchewan farmers seeking a greater voice in Canadian government; native American groups demanding control over their lands; rural Newfoundlanders calling for economic parity with citizens of urban provinces; black students and Asian groups besieged by racial bias.
