On June 22, 1963, four teenagers attend a concert in Paris: François, a tender-hearted rocker tempted by hallucinogenic substances; Antoine, a working-class boy who swears by Jean Ferrat; Lorenzo, the intellectual, crazy for film; and Michelle, the budding feminist with whom all three boys are in love. Beginning in the Glorious Thirties and ending with the "Republican march" of January 11, 2015, the book traces the lives of these Baby Boomers--fiery, idealistic, refusing to resign themselves to the world as it is, and convinced that they can still make it better.
