Summary:
Enables the student to identify the anatomical relationships of the ankle; to describe a systematic approach to the arthroscopic evaluation of the ankle joint; evaluate the surgical steps to safely expose ankle structures by means of superficial and deep dissection using anterior, posterior, medial, and lateral approaches; to state the consequences of improper mobilization and retraction of soft tissue, tendons and nerves; to name common operative treatments for each of the ankle exposures presented; and to describe the steps to avoid common pitfalls for each exposure.
