Summary:
"This book was written by elementary students from the Conrad Weiser School District located in Western Berks County, Pennsylvania. The students would look out the window at school and see the South Mountain and the mountain pass or the gap in the mountain which inspired them to write about the history of the area in which they were growing up. Their teacher, John Zug, was the inspiration and provided guidance to direct these students to write about their history. It is a true reflection of simpler times before social media and the internet in the heart of the Pennsylvania Dutch culture. We thank all of the children for their wonderful work"--Introduction.
