Homeless, alcoholic, and depressed, Michael King is living in a UPS loading bay in Portland, Oregon, when he comes upon a hurt, starving cat and takes her in. Traveling the West Coast together, Michael and Tabor heal the scars of each other's pasts. People are drawn to them, and moved to help Michael. Then he discovers that Tabor's owner in Portland is still looking for her.
