Summary:

Harry Hole - who after committing a serious error has been reassigned to the secret services - perceives points in common between this crime and the content of one of the many boring documents that pass through his hands every day: someone bought a Märklin rifle, extremely expensive and precise weapon used by neo-Nazi groups. Harry Hole will try to find out the relationship between these two cases. The inquiries lead to what happened in a group of Norwegian soldiers during the siege of Leningrad in World War II. But what link can that last episode have with the illegal arms trade? The ambiguous role of Norway during the war, assassinations and paybacks are the elements used by Jo Nesbø has used to create a fascinating mystery.
