A biography of the blind hymn writer Fanny Crosby, who wrote more than 10,000 hymns, all after the age of 40. She left home at age 15 and was educated at the New York Institute for Special Education. She fulfilled the roles of wife, mother, friend, teacher, nurse to the sick during the cholera epidemic, and humanitarian to the poor and disenfranchised. She was also the first woman to address the U.S. Congress.
