Marietta Stone has poured out her love for Frederick Finch in a series of secret love letters that have been found by Frederick's cousin Gerard. Gerard promises he will help Marietta win Frederick's heart, if she will help him win her sister's heart. However, the more time Gerard spends with Marietta, the more he wants her for himself.
