Summary:
Shows students in different areas of study at Iowa State. Included are laboratory scenes where students are preparing petri dishes and slides of bacteria for microscopic study, a soil survey field trip to a building excavation site, the taking of soil samples, a visit to a flood plain to how streams have changed course, and the study of minerals in rocks and soil.
Also shows students in the study of the market grading of farm crops, hybrid corn experiments and the sorting of seed, Industrial Education students mixing concrete and pouring it into a mold for a garden vase, a student turning a wooden bowl on a lathe, and students casting aluminum. Finally shows Landscape Architecture students in the studio, planting a tree, and examining a model of a farmstead.
