Penguins is the first graphic novel by musician/writer/director/cartoonist Nick Thorburn (Islands, the Unicorns, Mister Heavenly). Relying almost entirely on visual expression and the physicality of his characters, as well as the formal properties of comics, Penguins is a series of inter-connected short strips that, without words or human characters, does more to showcase the breadth of emotion we as humans experience than most prose novels.
