Summary:
Humans have owned and bred dogs for thousands of years. During this time, dogs have helped people do many jobs, such as carrying loads, hunting animals, or herding cattle. Dogs have also served as beloved companions. To help with these many tasks, people have created hundreds of different dog breeds, each with its own distinct looks and abilities. This guide includes 150 popular dog breeds from all seven of the American Kennel Club's breed groups and provides information about each breed's history, appearance, behavior, and basic dog care.
