Project-based, interactive, multimedia resource for middle school earth science curriculum. Video segment originally produced by Maslowski Wildlife Productions, c1998.
Summary:
Looks at some of the largest and oldest trees, from the redwoods in northern California and the sequoias in the Sierra Nevada, to the bristlecone pine trees in the White Mountains, to find out how they grow so large. Studying growth rings gives environmental scientists an important look into the weather patterns of the past.
