Summary:
The criminal code: A young man is convicted of murder, even though it was self-defense, by a harsh judge. Several years later the convict becomes a chauffeur for the judge turned warden and he falls in love with the warden's daughter, who tries to have him pardoned. The guilty generation: This Prohibition-era twist on Romeo and Juliet reflected a turn in the tide of public opinion against mobsters, who had long been glamorized in the movies. Behind the mask: "It is a complicated but addictive tale of a secret service agent who infiltrates a gang of drug smugglers to bring down its ringleader, the elusive Dr. X, and his henchman Henderson."--Container.
