Summary:
William Randolph Hearst, Sr., was head of the Hearst newspapers and periodicals. He was also in charge of the Hearst Castle in San Simeon, California. The Hearst newspapers ran a series of editorials in their papers on activities and accomplishments of the Division of Investigation. J. Edgar Hoover and other agents were impressed with the editorials. Mr. Hoover wrote to William Randolph Hearst, Sr. expressing his appreciation. Mr. Hoover and Mr. Hearst corresponded with each other and other members of their staff.
