One day, Louisiana Elefante's granny wakes her up in the middle of the night, saying they have to leave home immediately, for the day of reckoning has come. This time, granny seems serious, and intends that she and Louisiana never return. Now separated from best friends Raymie and Beverly, Louisiana must find a way to return home, but as she does her life becomes tangled with people who have a lot to teach her about finding herself and learning to say goodbye.
