Issued in a slipcase, 23 cm. "Gameboard/Symmetries was designed and executed by Linda Lembke and Claire Van Vliet to honour the work of Ellen Dorn Levitt ... Twenty-five of the Gameboards have been printed on Strathmore Cotton paper with an Epson Sure Color P600 using Ultra Chrome HD ink; the cover paper is Barcham Green India; the colophon is printed on Barcham Green Martian Red; the chemise is covered in the same texture and colour of paper from Ecological Fibers as were used for the original Scrabble boxes with a slipcase of the same in antique finish and was made by Mary Richardson in Maidstone Vermont. The printing and assembly of the leporello was done at the Janus Press in Newark Vermont in an edition limited to one hundred ... "--Colophon. Leaves are joined end to end and folded accordion style.
Summary:
Inspired by old game boards such as Parcheesi, Sorry!, and Chinese checkers, each symmetrical design began with a grid. These grids encompass a quadrant from each of the original game boards. From there, they blossomed. Like mandala designs or the views seen through a kaleidoscope, the Gameboard/Symmetries has no right way up.
