Jasmine Wainwright has lived a very sheltered life and is naive to the realities of life outside her plantation home. When two brothers from New England come to visit her home, her understanding of life is thrown into disarray and helps to open her eyes. She is later face with the prospects of marrying a man that she does not love. She must weigh her obligations to her family against the desires of her heart.
