The plan for the Normandy landings on June 6, 1944--D-Day--required the seamless coordination of of amphibious landings with paratrooper and glider assaults. The thousands of troops involved not only had to train for their own roles, but also prepare to work with other forces, coordinating their activities while in unfamiliar terrain and under fire. The D-Day Training Pocket Manual 1944 brings together excerpts from Allied manuals used in the preparation for D-Day, including naval and air support, airborne assaults and amphibious landings, and the consolidation phase.
