There's more to the story : the 1870 Sioux County Dutch Pioneers is a history of the planning and implementation of relocating several hundred people to a new colony on the empty prairielands of Northwest Iowa. It is a chronology of documented events that tells the story of opportunity, hardship, challenge, and triumph. In this story we meet the participants and develop an understanding of a community that is interconnected by ethnicity, values, customs, traditions, and religion. Under the expertise of their leader, a prosperous community was founded under the guiding assumption that the people would live in the shadow of church and school.
