Summary:
"I began writing these papers during the Spring of the pandemic of 2022, and I finished them in the Fall of the same year. All of them are partially based on actual events at Afkpo, an Igbo people, and all of them are also derived from my imagination. This form of writing is sometimes called historical fiction, a term whch is an oxymoron. A heat wave actually occurred there. There were various reactions to it, and an oracle was consulted over it. A man from the countryside actually existed, who trained and worked in the city, and then returned to rejuvenate his rural village of birth. A boy illegally forced his was into the initiation of the vllage secret society. All my life as an anthropologist I have tried to be factually accurate as best as I could. This is the first time that I have ever turned facts into fiction. I am surprised how much I enjoyed it."--Page v.
