Engraved title page (facsimile in Hunter); woodcut head- and tailpieces; 1 woodcut illustration on page 31, depicting a mechanical device. Note on engraved plates: Total of 51 full-page engraved plates; plate mark measuring 31 x 19 cm. The plates are numbered I-XLII [1-42], with the following insertions in the sequence: XVIA [16A], XIXA-C [19A-C], XXIA [21A], XXIIA-B [22A-B], XXVA [25A], XXVIA [26A]. Plates XXIIB-XXVI [22B-26], with descriptive text pages 14-21, illustrate papermaking machinery, including both the stamper and the Hollander beater. Plate XXVA [25A] is the earliest illustration of a Hollander beater; cf. Hunter. Signatures: )(² A-I² ([51] engraved leaves of plates).
