Summary:
Chronicles the beginning and end of the Berlin Wall from its construction in 1961 to November 9, 1989. Includes views of East Berliners on streets, subway and Kudam greeted by West Germans. Covers events in Hungary (dismantling of Hungarian-Austrian border), Prague and Budapest (East German refugees crowd into consulates), the peaceful demonstrations in Leipzig and elsewhere by Neues Forum adherents ("Wir sind das Volk"), the response by Stasi (Staatssicherheitspolizei) to these demonstrations as well as excerpts from speeches and interviews by Walter Momper, Hans-Dietrich Genscher, Mikhail Gorbachev, Helmut Kohl, Willi Brandt, and Erich Honecker.
