He was a powerful and original War artist, and an engaging and sensitive portrait painter, whose group portraits in particular are as successful as those by any British painter of the age. To date unfairly eclipsed by the glamorous and culturally influential circle around him, Lamb is now probably best known through these figures and his many compelling portraits of them, amongst them Lady Ottoline Morrell, Evelyn Waugh and Lytton Strachey, whose monumental full-length portrait by Lamb in Tate Britain is probably the artist's best-known work.0Lamb abandoned a promising medical career in Manchester to pursue his training as an artist at the London art school run by William Orpen and Augustus John. 600 10 $a Lamb, Henry, $d 1883-1960 $v Exhibitions. 600 14 $a Lamb, Henry, $d 1883-1960. 600 17 $a Lamb, Henry, $d 1883-1960. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00142465 655 7 $a Exhibition catalogues. $2 aat 655 7 $a Exhibition catalogs. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01424028 700 12 $a Lamb, Henry, $d 1883-1960. $t Works. $k Selections. 710 2 $a Salisbury and South Wiltshire Museum, $e host institution. 710 2 $a Poole Museum, $e host institution. 941 $a 1 952 $l OVUX522 $d 20191213015912.0 956 $a http://locator.silo.lib.ia.us/search.cgi?index_0=id&term_0=F24DC8BAE96D11E8978F920F97128E48Initiate Another SILO Locator Search
