The individual was given a place in society and wealthy citizens were keen to have their portrait painted. This is an exhibition of 50 portraits from the 16th century by masters such as Quentin Metsys, Joos van Cleve and Joachim Beuckelaer. They immortalised their contemporaries in astonishingly deft and extremely detailed, almost photorealistic paintings. These portraits were painted in the main centres of the Netherlands and often had a different role to play.Exhibition: BOZAR, Brussels, Belgium (6.2.-17.5.2015). 650 0 $a Portrait painting, Dutch $y 16th century $v Exhibitions. 650 0 $a Portrait painting, Renaissance $z Netherlands $v Exhibitions. 650 7 $a Portrait painting, Dutch. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01072201 650 7 $a Portrait painting, Renaissance. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01072237 651 7 $a Netherlands. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01204034 648 7 $a 1500-1599 $2 fast 655 7 $a Exhibition catalogs. $2 fast $0 http://id.worldcat.org/fast/1424028 $0 http://id.worldcat.org/fast/1424028 700 1 $a Borchert, Till, $e editor. $0 http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/nr95035320 700 1 $a Jonckheere, Koenraad, $e editor. $0 http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/nr2007012513 710 2 $a Palais des beaux-arts (Brussels, Belgium), $e host institution. $0 http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n81047482 941 $a 1 952 $l OVUX522 $d 20180111044706.0 956 $a http://locator.silo.lib.ia.us/search.cgi?index_0=id&term_0=60E3C7FCF69E11E78A00251D97128E48Initiate Another SILO Locator Search
