Often compared to Mozart, Chopin was invited to play for members of the artistocracy in small, private concerts. But, unlike Mozart, his parents did not take advantage of his youth. Frederic Chopin left his Polish homeland behind when he was only 20 and lived most of the rest of his life in Paris, France, the cultural hub of Europe. His genius as a pianist and composer flowered there with the encouragement and support of the female novelist George Sand. He wrote more than 200 works for piano during the course of his life that was cut tragically short by tuberculosis at the age of 39. Symbolically, his heart was taken from his body and returned to his beloved Poland, where he remains a national hero. 600 10 $a Chopin, FreÌdeÌric, $d 1810-1849. $v Juvenile literature. 600 11 $a Chopin, FreÌdeÌric, $d 1810-1849. 650 0 $a Composers. $v Juvenile literature. $v Juvenile literature. 650 1 $a Composers. 830 0 $a Masters of music (Mitchell Lane Publishers) 856 41 $3 Table of contents $u http://www.loc.gov/catdir/toc/ecip0410/2003024048.html 939 $a 5350546 941 $a 1 956 $a http://locator.silo.lib.ia.us/search.cgi?index_0=id&term_0=0F02FF442B0911DEBA4F1C08A8D7520A 994 $a 02 $b NIU 952 $l UNUX074 $d 20090701080000.0Initiate Another SILO Locator Search
