In Ronald H. Stone's fourth work on Tillich's philosophy the ethic is examined from the early ontological to socialist ethics to his own final principled-situationalist ethic in late life. Unique to this study is the in-depth inquiry into Tillich's courageous social action correlated with his own philosophical-theological ethic. The book moves from an early socialist rally in Berlin, through the wars, dialogue with John Foster Dulles about post-war planning, debates about nuclear deterrence, to Buddhist Christian dialogue. The author's own preference for the late ethic of the philosopher informs the inquiries into the earlier radical Tillich. The conclusion provides a synthesis of the vast sources of Tillich's ethics and presents twelve themes summarizing sources and future resources for ethics from his life's work. 600 10 $a Tillich, Paul, $d 1886-1965 $x Ethics. 600 17 $a Tillich, Paul, $d 1886-1965. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00034887 650 0 $a Christian ethics $x History $y 20th century. 650 0 $a Ethics, Modern $y 20th century. 650 0 $a Socialist ethics. 650 0 $a Socialism and Christianity. 650 0 $a Socialism and religion. 650 0 $a Church and social problems. 650 0 $a Social justice $x Christianity. $x Christianity. 650 6 $a Morale chreÌtienne $x Histoire $y 20e sieÌcle. 650 6 $a Morale $y 20e sieÌcle. 650 6 $a Morale socialiste. 650 6 $a Socialisme et christianisme. 650 6 $a EÌglise et probleÌmes sociaux. 650 7 $a Socialist ethics. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01123728 650 7 $a Socialism and religion. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01123694 650 7 $a Socialism and Christianity. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01123669 650 7 $a Social justice $x Christianity. $x Christianity. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01767768 650 7 $a Church and social problems. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00860491 650 7 $a Christian ethics. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00859107 650 7 $a Ethics. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00915833 650 7 $a Ethics, Modern. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00915883 648 7 $a 1900-1999 $2 fast 655 7 $a History. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01411628 830 0 $a Mercer Tillich studies. 941 $a 1 952 $l PLAX964 $d 20230718100333.0 956 $a http://locator.silo.lib.ia.us/search.cgi?index_0=id&term_0=E8DDE5DC214711EEBC7340321FECA4DB 994 $a 92 $b IOHInitiate Another SILO Locator Search
