This study situates representative examples of his religious painting within their respective contexts to demonstrate how Poccetti and his patrons negotiated the increasingly fraught terrain of sacred painting in the period of religious reform. These case studies demonstrate how patrons ranging from the Dominicans to the Carthusians to prominent Florentine patricians relied on Poccetti's skill in creating compelling narratives that reflected current concerns within the Catholic world. In the process, Poccetti invoked an august Florentine tradition of fresco painting, shaping it to better address the demands placed on religious imagery at the end of the Renaissance. 600 10 $a Poccetti, Bernardino, $d 1548-1612 $x Criticism and interpretation. 650 0 $a Painting, Renaissance $z Florence. $z Florence. 650 0 $a Christian art and symbolism $z Florence $z Florence $y Renaissance, 1450-1600. 650 6 $a Peinture de la Renaissance $z Florence. $z Florence. $0 (CaQQLa)201-0169850 600 17 $a Poccetti, Bernardino, $d 1548-1612 $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00251977 650 7 $a Art, Renaissance $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00816786 650 7 $a Christian art and symbolism $x Renaissance $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01710941 651 7 $a Italy $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01204565 648 7 $a 1450-1600 $2 fast 655 7 $a History $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01411628 776 08 $z 9789048550951 $i ebook 776 08 $i ebook version : $z 9789048550951 941 $a 1 952 $l OVUX522 $d 20240417025507.0 956 $a http://locator.silo.lib.ia.us/search.cgi?index_0=id&term_0=A7F15DFAFC8011EE9ABF7B513DECA4DBInitiate Another SILO Locator Search
