563 $a Dos-à-dos binding, bound in heavy cardstock covers attached to Tyvek hinges which are side-sewn at the spine. The two texts start at opposite ends of the book and finish in the middle with colophons back-to-back and upside down.
520 $a "Morrison's doll series began with The Hollow Doll (out of print) in 1998. She has continued these doll-related stories of age and brokenness through several books including In the Land of Shadows and Mechanical Baby. Although Morrison does not state it directly, Mortvisage can be translated as the face of death. This translation ties in not only with the recurring bleakness of the doll series but also with her Day of the Dead references in other bookworks (like Une Nuit D'Hiver). In this work the last page contains a Day of the Dead skeleton figure. ... Tara Bryan approaches this dollscape from a different direction, although Morrison parallels appear throughout." -- Vamp & Tramp, dealer description.

500 $a "This is half of an exquisite corpse. 12 of my Gocco printed images mixed with Tara Bryan's 12 and puffed out with heavier paper were glued to a Gocco printed background. The typeface is original. Others are Big Top, Viking, Bard, Aardvark and Vivienne. Papers are Strathmore (kindness of Howard LaMarca), Crosse Pointe's Synergy (kindness of Sally Lowe), Tyvek and Tara's. It was gone back into with Pigma pens, hand-cut (some by Enrique Chavarria), assembled and bound. The text is mine. c2006"--Colophon for The show of Dr. Mortvisage.
500 $a "This is half of an exquisite corpse. Lois Morrison's Cocco-printed images sent me onto a side track of broken dolls, which led to compiling sayings using body parts. There I stayed. Go figure. Laser, inkjet, letterpress, Gocco and rubber-stamped images are printed on a variety of papers; a few are retouched with colored pencil. Tyvek makes the hinges. Thanks to Lois for pushing me out of my comfort zone, to Katie and Duncan for cutting, to George for his printer, and to the whack of friends who added to the list of sayings. c2010 [signed] Tara Bryan [printed] and Lois Morrison"--Colophon for Is it a memory-- or was it a dream?
